Fireworkfiesta 2010 in association with Serpentine Green Shopping Centre, Connect FM and the PRS for Music will take place at Ferry Meadows in Peterborough on Saturday 6th November 2010. Gates are open from 4pm. This event is the biggest in East Anglia and in the top 10 of firework displays in the whole of the UK with all monies raised being donated to local charities to help needy causes in Peterborough.
History:
Back in 1975 a group of local people made a decision to stage a major event for families in and around Peterborough with the aim of reducing the number of terrible injuries suffered by children every year from fireworks. Robert Horrell and a number of other members of the Rotary Club of Peterborough had formerly been members of Peterborough Round Table, and the two organisations came together to run the event and with this...
Firework Fiesta was born!
Chairmanship of the committee organising the event alternates between The Rotary Club of Peterborough and Peterborough Round Table. This Year Tony Cronin of Peterborough Round Table is chairman. Over the 35 years the event has been running it has grown and has not only made a major contribution to safety, but it has also raised many tens of thousands of pounds for local charities.
The Firework display is designed by the world famous Kimbolton Firework Company and managed by a highly experienced and qualified team The firework launch site is specifically designated for safety and is distant from the spectators to provide a spectacular display and enjoyment for all. We expect in excess of 15,000 people to attend the event.
Charity:
The event raises money for local charaties in and around the Peterborough area. All our committee members are volunteers and on the weekend of Fireworkfiesta, many local clubs with years of experience help us in running the event.
